Nightstrike's Reviews: Guardians of The Gryphon's Claw

Guardians of the Gryphons Claw, by Todd Calgi Gallicano, is an interesting book, as it mixes sci-fi and fantasy together. For those who have not even heard of it, this book focuses on the unique adventures of Sam London, a seemingly average boy. What sets this book apart from others right away, is that there are files on people, that help explain what is going on. Along the way, Sam meets many new characters, some human, and some not.

After a recurring dream, and a few peculiar news reports, Sam heads into the desert and comes across an ancient gryphon named Phylassos. Several unexpected events later(massive traffic jam, accidents, and everyone unscathed), Sam finds himself talking with Dr. Vance Vantana, a member of the U.S. Department of Mythical Wildlife, and soon after running from gargoyles. Now, I know this book at first may seem a bit "cheesy," but it's actually quite well-written, and will have you wanting to read more the whole time. Besides Vance, Sam also meets Penelope Naughton, a scientist with a unique form of amnesia, that blocks off a small portion of her life, and Chase, a cynocephalus with questionable plans.

Overall, I would rate this book a 4.5 out of 5, as the ending was quite a twist, and I hope for a sequel to come soon. I'd recommend this book for anyone just looking for some action, and unique descriptions.
