Yes, I'm back with more reviews. I've settled into a groove with schoolwork and am finding time to dedicate towards other stuff. First on my to-do list, (mainly because I can't hold on to the library book forever) is another book by Kathy Reichs. As you might expect, I'm still not reading these in perfect chronological order, but nonetheless I have a decent sense of the minor timeline, and the stories can very much act as standalones anyway.
Have you ever hyperfixated on something for a while, focusing on all the 'nitty-gritty?' I take no shame in admitting that I do the same. This particular novel focuses quite a bit on the theme -- bikers. Yes, you heard that right. No, it's a lot more thorough than that.
Spoilers Beyond This Point!
Temperance Brennan is brought on to investigate a strange new set of homicides, which brings her into the world of biker gangs. Yes, that's essentially the plot. The book itself made use of excellent storytelling, and the twist was actually pretty intriguing, but when you strip that away, it's really just a dedication to Hell's Angels. Nonetheless, it remained enjoyable, and I was intrigued by Ryan's role on the novel. For clarification, I have not read the second book, but apparently Ryan had gone undercover after allegedly being arrested for possession of substances. I'm not sure on the details, but it adds another bit of depth that the TV series failed to do with Booth.
