Inkspell is the second book in a trilogy by Cornelia Funke, continued from Inkheart, and continuing in Inkdeath. The main protagonist in the story is Meggie, who has a unique ability (shares ability with father, too) to read things out of books. In Inkheart, Meggie defeated Capricorn, the main antagonist, accidentally "summoned" by Mortimer, Meggie's father. Dustfinger, who had a small yet interesting role in Inkheart, now is the focus of everyone, because he has returned into the book he was from, and many of the characters followed him. Inkspell goes into detail about his origins, and what went on while he was away. Many new characters both helped and hindered Dustfinger. However, we saw the return of others as well, such as Basta, Capricorn's right-hand-man. Overall, I would rate Inkspell 5 out of 5. It is great for Seventh and Eight Graders as a fun yet thrilling book, full of magic, and a bit of mystery, too.
