I've decided on compiling an older project, and resuming work on it! I will be reconstructing a Minecraft mod for 1.16.5 which adds some interesting new things. Currently the only thing that is successfully ported is the Horseshoe Crab, which still needs work, but other (terrifying) mobs are in the works. I'll share a beta release on Facebook soon!

As most of you know by now, I'm hesitant with new stuff at times, particularly new authors. My mother started reading Kathy Reichs' novels years ago, but my only introduction to them at the time was Bones, a series based off those novels. Having finished several books and impatiently awaiting the next Alex Cross installment, I decided to give it a try. While I technically should have started with Déjà Dead, my library did not have it, so I grabbed #2 in the series, Death du Jour.
What I did know while starting this series, was that the Temperance Brennan of the TV show, and the Temperance Brennan of the book series are very different. Somehow, this one has more of a traumatic past, and I am interested in reading more.
Warning: Spoilers Ahead!
While on a dig at a former church site, uncovering a body for Sainthood, Dr. Temperance Brennan is enduring the near-Arctic temperatures of Quebec, and makes a surprising discovery. Meanwhile, a mysterious series of gruesome deaths leaves authorities puzzled, and she is quickly brought on to examine the remains, aiding in investigations.
The book then has Temperance travel between the US and Canada, investigating an apparent cult that may have gotten its hooks into her sister among others.
Bouncing between infanticide, threats, and grand delusions, this book, for me, was quite the introduction to the series, and I look forward to more.
Overall Rating: 9/10
