Nightstrike's Reviews: Recursion

A bit shorter than usual. I'm going to be working on some custom requests:

Railsnake (and others)- Created(and requested by) by: Warzonebeta, TFW2005

Boomtown - Created by: (Anonymous request) TheLibrarian, TFW2005

And a few others that will be quite a surprise!

With that out of the way, let's get started!

Recursion, yet another book by Blake Crouch, is one of those books that scares you, yet keeps you hooked. The thing that surprised me was how disturbingly sound the science behind the technology was, and how the events were essentially a prediction of what would happen if that technology existed. Before I continue, I want to mention that you should probably forgo your current perception of reality, as what we perceive is shaped by memories. What we consider the present, is a small fraction of a nanosecond in the "past," as processing takes time. What if time is completely nonexistent, and that's all happening in the "now?" With that said, let's get into the fun part.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Warning: Sort of Spoiler-Heavy Ahead!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The book starts off by bouncing back and forth between November 2018 and 2007, following the actions of Barry Sutton and Helena Smith. At first it's hard to determine what the two characters have in common, but later it starts to become apparent with the mention of False Memory Syndrome, and Helena's work to preserve memories. It has a similar feel to Dark Matter, but much more urgent. In fact, one of the scarier bits was probably the mass suicides, caused by the sudden rush of memories from past timelines. I don't want to get into too much detail, as that would spoil too much, but I will say this:
You won't want to put the book down. (And when you do, you'll realize that it's 1 in the morning! *yawn* )
Overall Rating: 5/5
