'Nothing like an annual review from your favorite customizer to close out one year of life in the TF fandom, before heading into the next!'
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm starting it off here with a handful of my current favorites . . . the Power Of The Primes line. In "June"(October), we saw the end of the line that had started last year. I've only managed to get my hands on a few of the figures from this line but so far, I'm satisified. While the forums are rife with complaints from fans who were begging for a "geewun"-faithful iteration, I consider these pocket-sized guys superior to the source material. True, I was kind of hoping for some more articulation and detailed coloration, but let's face it...these fellows are a fine effort by Hasbro.
We got decent Pretenders, especially considering the fact that Play With This Too had failed to release theirs. Shown below is my collection so far, including completed customizations to them.
Left To Right:
Waverider (custom, made from Cloudburst)
Bomb-burst(inner robot's paint job pending)
Bludgeon(inner robot's paint job pending)
Skullgrin
Octopunch(inner robot's paint job pending)
Submarauder(inner robot's paint job pending)
Metalhawk(inner robot painted, based off of original appearance)
Landmine
Cloudburst
I've also got an Oilmaster and Crossblades I'm working on, but they're not quite ready for showing off.
Sizing up, we finally got Abominus! And he's not a 3P figure that costs 400-500!
Hydra and Buster, er---I mean Dreadwind and Darkwing saw a proper release(minus Powermasters, though)
True, there were spots where Hasbro cut corners, but hey! It gives me an opportunity to make upgrades. And they scale rather nicely with most versions of Overlord.
And . . .
Cuteness!
Presenting BotBots! The first collectable Transformers series! I can't help but love how cute these guys are.
Now onto papercraft!
I've recently gotten back into Paperformers, and have decided to do Wipeout first. However, THIS happened:
The rear fender pieces were too long! They're supposed to line up evenly with the rear canopy. So I set to work, and made this:
Did you catch the mistake? The bottom left one is supposed to say 'Tailgate'! Whoops!
It worked quite well, so I wondered if anyone would be interested in a reboot of the late Jaynz' Paperformer Project. What do you guys think?
--------------------------------------------------------
That sums up Part 1 here. Stay tuned for Part 2.
And, not to leave you hanging...here is a preview of a custom request:
WSTG-01 Trail King
>WST-01 Gold Gazer
>WST-02 Crimson Chemist
>WST-03 Grey Gunner
P.S. Whoever requested this, could you please comment, with your contact info? I need to keep track of these.
