Nightstrike's Reviews: Proxy

Most of the books I've read and reviewed are only a few years in the future, with drastic changes in society and lifestyles, but this one is more realistically paced. These sort of changes when compared to real life seem unrealistic, in such a short amount of time. However, Proxy is far enough in the future that it seems believable. Proxy gets its name from the concept itself. A person can be rich enough to have their punishments inflicted on others, or poor enough to be punished for the crimes of the rich. Sydney Carton is a Proxy, and suffers for the trouble caused by Knox Brindle. After Knox is framed for murder, Sydney and Knox find themselves both trying to put an end to the system.
This book caught my interest, after I skimmed the first few pages in the store. The characters turned out to be really well-written, and I've already begun the second book in the series. The only thing that didn't allow it to have a "perfect" score, is the lack of basis for the current society. Civilization somehow crumbled then reformed, without any record of it happening. Other than that, I highly recommend this book for you sci-fi readers out there.
Final Rating: 4.5/5
